Wait

Wait, wait for the tide
wait for the ride
wait for the rising of the sun.
Wait for the wind to fill your sail
or wait for the storm to calm.
Wait for God to still the gale
wait and fear no harm.

Wait for the seed to sprout and grow.
Wait for the God you love and know.
Wait in a still and quiet place,
wait though the sweat run down your face.
Wait for the Isaac lest Ishmael come,
wait through the night for the coming sun.
Wait like the farmer who waits for rain
for God will renew your strength again.

Wait through the winter for the coming spring;
wait for the clouds and the rains they bring.
Wait for the Sunday and the empty tomb.
Wait for the power in the upper room.

Wait for God's guidance till direction comes,
in the sound of armies or of beating drums
or for still small voices or for quiet things
then wait no more, but mount up with wings.
