God Came Down

Down, Down, Down, the Highest One once came
into time and space, past moons and suns aflame

Down and Down, Down further still
Eternal Son of God to do the Father’s will

Down, More and Deeper ever Down
into a stable with cattle all around
Down into a family that was at best as poor
and laid in some beast’s manger a shelter with no door

Down,Down, Jesus left His home and kin
to seek the lost without, within this world of sin.
Down, He stooped to lift the low
Then up upon a cross, so we won’t have to go
Down, Down at last deep Down into the bowels of Hell
