The Eleventh Hour

I longed for food, I hoped for meat,
as in that church I took my seat.
More than light they studied shadow
and chaff far more than grain.
Sheep, we’re  looking for the meadow
T’was  the reason why they came.
As harts were panting for the water,
and lambs looked  for the brook.
Christ made thousands sit in order
just to give more than He took.
But there was nothing, not a little
no miracles were had this day
as some man spoke of “jot and tittle”
as children making pies of clay.
Open the Book that keeps on giving
fill the cup with wine, not dross -
A Savior who’s not dead, but living,
and please don’t leave Him on the cross.
